Braxton’s Fall Festival – What’s Happening Today?
Welcome to Braxton’s Fall Festival. Today we’re celebrating the launch of Haunted House Ghost with a thirty-one (31) day virtual festival, where we share the scoop on all the exciting book promotions coming up this month. Who’s ready for…
Autumn is my favorite season of the year. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. When I wrote Haunted House Ghost, I was insanely excited to launch the book on schedule to ensure readers could celebrate this wonderful time of year with the tale in their hands and a chilled fright in the air. As part of today’s book launch, beginning October 1st, I will share a post each day to get us in the spooky spirit. We’ve even added scary and humorous animated graphics to the blog this morning. Throughout the remainder of the month, you will have access to amazing content and thrilling fun:
- A 14-day blog tour with Lori @ Great Escapes
- At least six (6) giveaways — all different items
- Contests & polls where you get to choose a name in a future book
- Guest posts from 5 bloggers and/or authors
- Excerpts from the entire series
- Videos (that might embarrass me since I tend to be shy)
- Interviews (some I had NO CONTROL over)
- Surprise announcements

If you’re new to the Braxton Campus Mysteries, here’s what you need to know. It is an award-winning mystery series that debuted in October 2018, focusing on amateur sleuth, Kellan Ayrwick, a 32-year-old single father who solves crimes in his Pennsylvania hometown while attending to his day job as a professor at Braxton University. There are 5 books in the series, and while they are all individually contained mysteries, there are a number of side stories and sub-plots about the supporting cast. If you read them out of order, you might discover things you weren’t meant to know until a future book. I leave it in your capable hands to decide the best approach.
The books were written within the parameters of the cozy mystery sub-genre, which means they have no violence, sexual content, or graphic language, the murders generally happen off-scene, and the protagonist is an amateur sleuth, not the official detective. When I set out to write in this genre, I turned it upside down by creating a young male leading character with a six-year-old daughter. There aren’t many of them in the sub-genre, so this approach might provide that extra something you’re looking for too. Below are the list of current books:
- Academic Curveball (Oct 2018)
- Broken Heart Attack (Nov 2018)
- Flower Power Trip (Mar 2019)
- Mistaken Identity Crisis (Jun 2019)
- Haunted House Ghost (Oct 2019)
So… get yourself ready for a month of amazing posts and tons of cool experiences with the crowd from the Braxton Campus Mysteries. It took months of planning to create all the graphics, connect with guest posters, set up the giveaways, and determine what needed to happen in a Fall Festival. Who’s ready to join me in the spooky corn maze, Victorian horse-drawn carriage and hayride, haunted house, and jack-o’-lantern carving contests?
Overview of Haunted House Ghost
It’s Halloween, and excitement is brewing in Braxton to carve jack-o’-lanterns, go on haunted hayrides, and race through the spooky corn maze at the Fall Festival.
Despite the former occupant’s warnings, Kellan renovates and moves into a mysterious old house. When a ruthless ghost promises retribution, our fearless professor turns to the eccentric town historian and an eerie psychic to communicate with the apparition. Meanwhile, construction workers discover a fifty-year-old skeleton after breaking ground on the new Memorial Library wing. Could someone have died in the campus fire 50 years ago?
While Kellan and April dance around the chemistry sparking between them, a suspicious accident occurs at the Fall Festival. Soon, Kellan discovers the true history and dastardly connections of the Grey family. But can he capture the elusive killer – and placate the revenge-seeking ghost. Or will the intensity of the lightning storm shadowing the seance get in his way?

The section below here will repeat at the end of every successive post, so we don’t have to explain the Fall Festival in the beginning each day. We’ll dive right into the content but also allow newcomers to catch up. Previous posts include…
