Braxton’s Fall Festival: Day 29 – Name of Kellan’s New House (Poll Winner)

Braxton’s Fall Festival – What’s Happening Today?

Welcome to Braxton’s Fall Festival. Today we’re celebrating the launch of Haunted House Ghost with a thirty-one (31) day virtual festival, where we share the scoop on all the exciting book promotions coming up this month. Who’s ready for…

At the end of the 4th book, Mistaken Identity Crisis, something surprising happened, which forced Kellan to move out of the cottage at Danby Landing. Nana D offered him an alternative suggestion, and before you knew it, Kellan purchased The Old Grey Place from Judge Hiram Grey, the ruthless tyrant we’ve heard about but never met. No one’s inhabited the spooky old mini-mansion for decades, unless you count that pesky ghost a few well-respected citizens have claimed to see. While Kellan’s renovating the place over the summer, he begins to believe the rumors that it’s haunted. When the 5th book, Haunted House Ghost, opens, Kellan is preparing to move in as the Halloween season truly unfolds all around Braxton. The ghost makes himself or herself known to our beloved hero… will Kellan survive?

You voted in the poll to choose the house’s new name, which will appear in book six in 2020. The winner is…

Garzenwyck

Thank You Voters!

We had a TIE. Since I originally chose the name Garzenwyck, it means that would break the tie… so the name of Kellan’s house stays as it was in book five, Haunted House Ghost. I love all the input from everyone. Thank you for all your clever word play too. Regarding the top runners-up, my thoughts include:

  1. Mystique Manor is cool, and I might be able to use that for something else in the future books.
  2. Greygrave Hall would work for the Grey estate in a future book too. Maybe Hiram Grey has something up his sleeves in book 6… which you might just find out about tomorrow.

Fun Fact About Where I’ve Lived

I was born in Florida. My parents were visiting my grandparents (who moved there when they retired young) and decided to stay. My family came from Long Island, New York, and have lived there since the 1700s, possibly earlier. They returned to Bethpage, New York when I was a very small child, which is where I grew up. I attended Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. When I graduated, I moved back to Long Island and bought a house in Plainview, then moved back and forth between California and New York a few times before finally settling back in New York. In 2012, I decided to move into Manhattan (45 miles away) so that I didn’t have to commute to work every day (Madison Square Garden above Penn Station). I lived on the West Side for a few years before relocating to the East Side a few years ago. I’ve got the itch to move again, but it probably won’t happen for a couple of years. Until then, I leave you with a few photos of my current home with W and Baxter.

The windows are great – so much light… helps the plants. I talk to them too. I might be losing my mind some days.

I tend to like darker colors, so we had to balance it… can’t be too goth! LOL

  4. How gorgeous it looks! I’m super jealous! Hey, you gotta let me stay and hang a little bit over there when I ever visit NY city! lol
