Braxton’s Fall Festival – What’s Happening Today?
Welcome to Braxton’s Fall Festival. Today we’re celebrating the launch of Haunted House Ghost with a thirty-one (31) day virtual festival, where we share the scoop on all the exciting book promotions coming up this month. Who’s ready for…
At the end of the 4th book, Mistaken Identity Crisis, something surprising happened, which forced Kellan to move out of the cottage at Danby Landing. Nana D offered him an alternative suggestion, and before you knew it, Kellan purchased The Old Grey Place from Judge Hiram Grey, the ruthless tyrant we’ve heard about but never met. No one’s inhabited the spooky old mini-mansion for decades, unless you count that pesky ghost a few well-respected citizens have claimed to see. While Kellan’s renovating the place over the summer, he begins to believe the rumors that it’s haunted. When the 5th book, Haunted House Ghost, opens, Kellan is preparing to move in as the Halloween season truly unfolds all around Braxton. The ghost makes himself or herself known to our beloved hero… will Kellan survive?
Since I won’t reveal any spoilers for those who haven’t read the book yet… all you need to know is that we can’t keeping calling it The Old Grey Place. By the end of the book, Kellan needs a new name for the monstrosity, if he’s going to continue living there. He suggests one to his family, but it doesn’t go over as well as he’d hoped. Now, he’s in a pickle! As we’ve all come to love our charming protagonist, you know it’s obvious that he’d assign the task to someone else: YOU!
While I’m writing the 6th book for launch in 2020, we need to come up with a new name for Kellan’s spooky house. I’ve suggested a few below but would love to add more options. If you’ve read the book, be careful not to suggest anything that might give away the plot. If you’ve read the previous books, perhaps you have a cool idea we should consider. If you’ve never read the books, after visiting Braxton’s Fall Festival every day this month, maybe you’ll figure out the best one yet. The poll will be open through October 28th, and then we’ll reveal the new name the following day. Let’s be creative but true to the heart of the series.
Fun Fact About Me
To share a tidbit about me… when I was 23 years old, I bought a rundown house on Long Island with a friend. We spent a year renovating the place, including adding a sun porch, remodeling a kitchen and bathroom, and installing all new floors. It was a huge project, and I was working full-time while accomplishing it. I’m handy in some ways, as my Dad taught me a bunch (he’s built tons of homes, and over this past weekend we installed new shower doors in my bathroom), but it was way more than I expected. After we finished the renovations, I lived in the house for 3 years before selling it to buy my childhood home from my parents, who’d decided to move to Pennsylvania. Isn’t it ironic that one of the places they lived is part of the inspiration for Wharton County in the Braxton Campus Mysteries?
Give that poll some thought while you’re getting your face painted like a handful of candy corn for Halloween this year! Emma loved it so much in the last book, she couldn’t stop feeding it to her father. After all, Kellan does love his desserts… just like someone else I know quite well. Bet you CAN guess who this time. 🙂

October 2nd – Great Escapes Book Blog Tour
October 3rd – GIVEAWAY for FREE Kindle Copy of Haunted House Ghost
